  • Radiant and smooth textured skin is often considered the main characteristic of healthy skin. Although it can be achieved, it is challenging for anyone to maintain it with just a healthy diet plan.

  • As we age, the hormones affect our skin texture, glow, and overall condition. The skin tissues shrink, and the signs of aging will get more evident on the body. You might end up with more open pores, saggy skin, discoloration, stubborn pigmentation, wrinkles, etc. In addition to this normal process, lifestyle factors like stress, alcohol consumption, exposure to pollution, direct exposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays, inadequate sleep, and consumption of unhealthy foods can result in unhealthy skin. 

  • The quick chemical fixes that we use for skin can only do more harm to it in the long run, even if it performs the best at the given moment. Every chemical perfection has a loophole. It's the side effects that come after an instant glow. And it's a huge price to pay. Our ancestors have left us with certain beauty regimes that will help us regain healthy skin back. Although it will demand patience and consistency, it is the best to use for an extended time, and also, it does not have any side effects because it is natural.

1. Turmeric and Gram flour pack

  • Turmeric has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It contains curcumin which enhances the overall texture of your skin. It scales back bacterial growth and leaves an even skin tone. Chickpea flour/Gram flour, also known as Besan, acts as an exfoliator to remove the dead and damaged skin from the surface. Raw milk helps with moisturization and leaves the skin supple and glowing

  • Mix a pinch of grounded raw turmeric with gram flour. Add raw milk or water for making it into a paste. Once it's applying consistency, use a clean brush or clean hands to apply it on your freshly washed skin. Leave it for about 20 minutes and let it dry. Rinse with normal water and pat dry. For best results, apply this two times a week.

2. Coconut oil and Sugar scrub

  • Coconut oil works best on dry skin. It contains many fatty acids and forms a layer over the skin to protect it from pollution and UV sun rays. Preheating the oil before applying it directly can help the oil to penetrate more and get better results. Sugar is a natural exfoliator that leaves the skin shiny and removes the dead skin cells. 

  • Heat the coconut oil and apply it to your entire body. Massage it in a circular motion, as it helps in better blood circulation. Leave it for at least an hour, then use coarse sugar to scrub the oil off the skin. Once you are finished with the scrubbing, use your regular mild body wash or soap to clean any excess oil presence. Follow this regime twice a week for best results.

3. Milk and Honey pack

  • Raw milk has been a part of the skincare regime for centuries. Taking a bath in milk was considered super moisturizing and could help quickly achieve radiant, soft, and supple skin. Mixing it with honey can only enhance its properties. Honey is antibacterial and has anti-inflammatory properties.   

  • Mix honey, raw milk, and gram flour for exfoliation. Leave the pack for 15 minutes, and then wash it off with normal water and pat dry. You will clearly see the difference in your skin when you apply it two times a week. There are many amazing benefits of honey for a healthy face and glow.

4. Banana pack

  • Bananas are loaded with beneficial minerals and vitamins that are good for your skin. Vitamins A, B, C, and E help achieve even-toned skin and maintain the skin's moisture content. It helps in skin tightening and minimizes the open pores.

  • Mash some ripe banana and mix it with milk, and then apply it to your skin. Leave it for about 10 minutes, and then wash it off with water.

5. Aloe vera pack

  • Aloe vera is a holy grail for anyone seeking natural ingredients that work the best for any skin type. Aloe vera is loaded with antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory properties that nourish and rejuvenate the damaged skin cells. It works wonders when used as a natural moisturizer and even a leave-on natural conditioner for hair.

  • Mix the aloe vera gel, milk, honey, and with a pinch of turmeric. Make it into a gel consistency and apply it over your skin. Wash it off after 20 minutes with water. Do this at least twice a week for best results.

6. Baking soda and Honey pack

  • Baking soda is a potent ingredient that can balance the skin's pH level. Its antibacterial properties prevent skin from further infections and scale back blemishes and scarring. Also, it exfoliates the skin and removes dead skin cells. Although considered natural, baking soda or cooking soda is not everyone's cup of tea. It is generally advised to do a patch test before using it on your entire body. It might leave the skin-irritated because of its ability to neutralize the pH levels.

  • Mix a pinch of baking soda with honey and a carrier oil, preferably olive oil. Apply it evenly on your damp skin and wash it off with plain water after 20 minutes. Follow this regime at least once a week for best results.

7. Lemon and Sugar scrub

  • Lemon is loaded with Vitamin C. It helps in skin lightening and pigmentation. It bleaches your skin and leaves it radiant and glowing. Sugar is a natural exfoliator that leaves the skin shiny and removes the dead skin cells. 

  • Squeeze the juice of 2- 3 lemon and mix it with sugar. Scrub it all over your clean skin and wash it off with plain water. Do this at least twice a week for best results. Lemon sometimes can be harsh on the skin, so it is advised to use deep or mild moisturizer according to your skin type. Due to its bleaching effect, it might lighten and thin your skin layer, so using sunscreen is a must as it helps from harmful rays to penetrate your skin.   

8. Papaya and Fuller's earth pack

  • The Papaya fruit is rich in vitamins and minerals that replenish your skin, and it contains papain which mildly exfoliates the dead skins from the surface. Fuller's earth (Multani Mitti) helps remove the excess oil on the skin surface and unclogs the affected pores. It helps in skin tightening and anti-aging.

  • Mash papaya and mix it with Fuller's earth and honey. Make it into a paste and apply evenly over your skin. Leave it for about 20 minutes and wash it with water. Do this once a week for the best results.

9. Toning with Rosewater

  • Rosewater is extracted from roses. It contains all the goodness of natural oil and not to mention its fantastic fragrance. It can be used as a toner that hydrates the skin, leaves an instant radiance, and balances pH levels as it soothes your skin. It can heal mild irritation and redness of the skin.

  • Chill the rose water and dip a clean cotton ball and apply it all over your skin. You can even sprinkle it on your face in the middle of your day after a face wash when you need that extra and instant glow. Use it twice a day for best results. 

10. Ubtan pack

  • Ubtan is a well-balanced mix of lentils, milk, rose water, oatmeal, almonds, lemon juice, and turmeric. It has all the goodness of every ingredient that's a part of this mixture. This powdered mix is readily available on the market, or you can prepare it at home by mixing all the powdered dry ingredients with the wet ones. 

  • Mix the Ubtan pack with water and apply it all over the skin. Allow it to get dry, and then wash it off with plain water after 10 minutes. Do this once every two weeks for the best results.

11. Saffron and Honey pack

  • Saffron is an ancient ingredient that can be used externally and taken internally for glowing skin. It enhances the complexion and protects it from tanning and sunburns. Honey boost up saffron's properties and hydrates the skin.

  • Dip a few saffron strands in honey and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Then apply it all over your body. Allow your skin to soak all the goodness for about 10 minutes and rinse it off with water. Do it once a week for best results.

12. Orange peel pack

  • Orange peel is loaded with citrus properties and Vitamin C. It reduces the blemishes and evens out the skin. It restrains the production of melanin, which is responsible for pigmentation and dark spots.

14. Yogurt, Honey and Turmeric pack

  • Yogurt or curd is rich in calcium and vitamin D that hydrates and improves your complexion. Honey helps in removing the bacteria and keeps the inflammation at bay. Turmeric helps with discoloration. 

  • Mix a pinch of turmeric, honey, and yogurt. Apply it to your skin and leave for about 10 minutes. Wash it off with cold water.

15. Olive oil massage

  • Olive oil is packed with enzymes that rejuvenate the skin, and flavonoids and polyphenols present in olive oil leave your skin shiny and nourished.  

  • Heat olive oil and apply it to your skin and leave it for about 30 minutes. Use your regular mild body wash or soap to clean any excess oil. Ensure that you don't overheat the oil; else, you can apply oil to your skin. Then dip a clean towel in warm water, remove the excess water and place it on your skin for the heat. For best skin, follow this twice a week.

16. Green Tea

  • Green tea is known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing properties. It can be used externally and taken internally for having healthy skin.

  • Have a cup of green tea every day for extra nourishment and getting healthy skin from within. You can use the same concoction and add in some brown sugar and cream and apply it over the skin and rinse it off after 10 minutes with normal water. This will enhance your complexion.
